Speech Night

The Speech night of 2009 showed that CBC knew how to end the year well. All the students that could make it, were there to listen to the speechs from teachers and students alike. The town hall was filled with students with thier families. There were speechs from politicians and army officials and many new awards were given out, for example, David Russo won the Trent Bond trophy. One of the highlights of the night was Mr Mifsud’s speech. All though it wasn’t the most exciting of speeches it was a great reflection of the year. The award winners were all very pleased with their awards and the recieved an added bonus of a $50 gift voucher with every award.

CBC Birthday Celebrations!

CBC celebrated its 131′st year of schooling in adelaide with an amazing day for the children. The day was filled with games and fundraisers for all the students. The staff and students helped out to put on CBC’s fist carnival orientated celebration. Rather than having set celebrations and whole school activities, the day was filled with lots of small activities and stalls, as well as a teachers against students soccer game, and a year 12 netball game against St Mary’s College. MISSA and SAG, the Middle school social action and social action group (seniors) all helped run the stalls to take the load off the staff.

The games managed to raise hundreds of dollars and all of nine gold created thier own games. Some of the more popular games run by MISSA were the sponge the teacher, where teachers including the deputy principal lined up to be hit, as well as the guess the baby photo where students had to match a photo of a teacher from their younger days to their current image.

Hellish Cab Ride

It was an ordinary cab ride when when everything that could go wrong, did. Michelle Chinnery was seated in the front seat of a cab when the driver had suffered a heart attack or stroke and spent the previous night in hospital. The taxi cab collided with a post van just past 6am. The cab was sent hurling acorss and intersection and hit a light pole. The engine was thrown as such a velocity that it flew several metres forward. Next, the car, having lost its front wheels plowed through a stone wall in hyde park. The metal of the car was wrapped around Ms Chinnery threatening the life of her and her unborn baby.

Essentially Ms Chinney and her unborn baby were “fine,” apart from experiencing a traumatic cab ride.
